At the end of our first day, we looked at each other with the same grinning awe people have when they just make the gate at an airport. A deep breath, a smirk, and a sense of relief. One idea two years in the making, we’ve finished three days of Innovation Lab.
Our orientation norms of being present and talking to new people were visible during timed design challenges and activities which provided constant change in group dynamics. Their reflections about collaboration and teamwork are already live on their blogs. Students discussed our sophomore framing arc of Intellect, Identity, Inspiration, and Innovation in both Humanities and STEM. They’re writing a letter to Ms. Hawes to introduce themselves as a writer.
This week’s orientation precedes next week’s true introduction to the academics of Innovation Lab. Students are antsy to get working on the projects. The foundation laid this week – and during Tuesday’s screening of Most Likely to Succeed – will support students moving forward.
And now, some photos! 3, 2, 1…
